LADORT

Lois Ann Dort

I have been a freelance writer for over 20 years working mainly in print magazines and newspapers. I started my freelance career in Bangkok, Thailand and currently live in Nova Scotia, Canada.

I have a wide-range of interests which can be seen in my work including human interest stories, science-based reporting and opinion pieces.

I have worked for The Chronicle Herald (Halifax, Nova Scotia), The Guysborough Journal (Guysborough, Nova Scotia), XFM Radio News (Antigonish, Nova Scotia), Courrier Japan, The Nation Multimedia (Bangkok), Big Chilli (Bangkok), and Thailand Tatler (Bangkok).

In 2014 my reporting was included in a newscast on XFM radio that won the Byron MacGregor Award for Best Newscast in a Small Market in Atlantic Canada.

I hold several degrees; a BA, and an MA. I am an avid photographer and a member of ArtWorksEast, an association of visual artists and crafters who live in Guysborough County.

Make Your Content a Priority.

I certainly will.

Deadlines

You make them, I meet them. An essential component to good writing is getting the work in on time.

Creativity

In spades. I began writing as a creative outlet. That has served me well in journalism; finding the hook to land a reader.

Research Skills

With over 15 years of post-secondary study and several degrees, I know how to find sources, assess their worth and use them to best serve an article.
